Untitled (Encounter №2) in BHSAD
For all that time my main inspiration was Felix Gonzalez-Torres, as his art was as relational as one can imagine. We are what we eat, and then if you eat a piece of art, you are becoming art yourself. How can it be more relational? In my case there is nothing to eat, but the space, which is different from where you usually are, where you are walking through and the piece of art literally touches you from all sides, gently, without any pressure, you are surrounded by it. You are stepping towards it and you meet it, you meet me. You feel it and you are becoming a part of it, as the space itself reacts on each move of yours, it somehow speaks to you in it’s own language. And it speaks to you with the same intention you are speaking to it. It only answers. The idea of meeting me, myself in those boxes, even though they are empty, but they are not empty energetically, brings the viewer to the understanding of himself and his own metaphorical boxes. The fact that they are not made physically does not meat that they do not exist. The penetration into my inner world entailed the encounter, it has happened.
